Local amputee stomps the competition in Beijing, China at the Paralympic Games bringing home the Gold

Katrin Green, below-knee amputee blew away the competition with a time of, 28.02 seconds in the 200-meter dash, setting the new German Record. Although Green competes for the German team, she lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with her husband/trainer, Roderick Green whom she met at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece and married in 2005.

Green grew up on a farm in Germany and lost her leg at the age of 5 when a piece of equipment malfunctioned and a blade severed her foot. Green continued on with her life and never let her disability slow her down. Scott Sabolich, her prosthetist says, "Katrin is a remarkable woman with determination and drive, I knew she would set the bar for everyone in the competition." Green not only sets the bar on the track, she also sets the highest standards at school where she is studying to become a Physicians assistant.
