Local Amputee stomps the competition breaking world records and bringing home 3 medals

17 months ago J.B. Bizzell lost his leg below-the-knee in a motorcycle accident. Today he is an accomplished Paralympic athlete with 2 silver medals, 1 gold medal, and has broken the world record for the fastest below-knee amputee in the 200 and the 400-meter dashes in the Paralympic Games held in Beijing, China.

His prosthetist Scott Sabolich, of Scott Sabolich Prosthetics & Research, Oklahoma City, OK, says he knew J.B. would do well in his competitions at the Paralympics but this by far exceeded his expectations. Sabolich said, "it is extremely rare for someone to perform at that level so soon after amputation. J.B. is an amazing athlete and should be an inspiration to all."

We will be welcoming Bizzell and our other medalling athletes home at a Celebration/Symposium on October 14th, 2008. For additional information please contact Alison Manger, 405-246-5580 or Lindsay McClellan 405-463-0240.
